Hello Ladies and Gentlemen:

Welcome to 2010 and the State Chapter of the Women's Council of Realtors®. The purpose of the Tennessee State Chapter is to set the standard in support of local chapter excellence. In serving the members, it is our purpose to identify, encourage and develop strong leaders for the future growth and strength of the Council, the community and the profession. We support the Vision and Mission of the Women's Council of Realtors®.

We are a network of successful Realtors® empowering women to exercise their potential as entrepreneurs and industry leaders. Through our influence as successful business professionals, women will effect positive change in the profession and in the broader community.

It is the goal of the Tennessee State Chapter to be a valued resource for local chapters and to customize support to meet each chapter's operational needs through leadership training, mentoring, recognition and educational tools. We will serve as a model of ethical, traditional values for local chapter excellence in leadership, operations, education and purpose.

Our purpose is to further foster the development of leadership skills in support of those assuming positions in the Council, in the industry and in the broader community. We will give voice to the unique value of the Women's Council within our local associations of Realtors®, the Tennessee Association of Realtors®, and other women's organizations. We will provide leadership training through specialized instruction at State Orientation, governing board and membership meetings to showcase the distinct value of the Women's Council of Realtors®.

We will demonstrate accountability in our elected offices. In the performance of our duties as elected officers, we will respond to the needs of our Council, local chapters and others the State Chapter serves, demonstrating professionalism, participation and accountability always in support of our mission. We will maintain a sharp focus on our purpose and goals and maximize all the resources at our disposal to achieve them.

As your 2010 State President, I will do my very best. My goals this year are to promote a functioning, fully operational website to facilitate the interaction of each local chapter with their members and other local chapters and the State Council, to recognize and promote the advertisement of our State sponsors, to identify and recognize members on the local and State website for their professional accomplishments and to revitalize the TN9'r program to provide website presence to enable realtor referrals and networking opportunities.

A Ten Step Program to provide a comprehensive guide for local chapter Presidents was introduced. My purpose in writing it was to enable Local Chapter Presidents to set tangible goals for the success of their respective chapters. It is my fondest wish that each and every chapter achieve a 2010 "Chapter Gold Award of Excellence" in compliance with an eleven chapter 100% completion of the 2010 Annual Report. Contained therein is their 2010 Chapter Business Plan and Excellence Award Entry form as set forth by National.

A State Scholarship Program was introduced and discussed from which a local chapter "mentoring" program evolved. Each chapter will have a "mentor" in addition to having the advantage of the instruction and guidance of our 2005 State Past President and 2010 State Governor, Bobbie Noreen, who is already visiting and performing her State duties. The plan has been put in place to offer additional support through visits, quiet oversight and ongoing communication.

Local Chapter Presidents who serve as the "voice" of their Chapters during State and National Governing board and Membership Meetings are expected to attend those important meetings. In addition, Local Chapter Presidents are asked to promote and encourage the participation of all their members including other members serving as local chapter officers and committee chairs.

A new 2010 Strategic Plan was implemented and outlines 5 key areas of change and development to move the organization forward in achieving the WCR mission and in realizing its vision. Those are areas focus upon State Chapter effectiveness, leadership, management, the promotion of the Women's Council of Realtors® value/brand and the value of the Tennessee State Chapter as a source of education, networking and referral opportunities, premium leadership training and development to bring a women's perspective to address industry issues.

Our State goal is to introduce a Performance Network Class as a CE credit course to be held during the Fall Convention in Memphis. Plans are underway to organize and conduct this course for the benefit of our WCR members who require CE credits and who seek the Women's Council of Realtors PMN designation.

Our Spring WCR State Governing Board and Membership meetings will be held in conjunction with the TAR convention at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro. The State WCR Governing Board will be held on Monday, March 8, 2010 from 4:30P to 6:30P. The State WCR Membership Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 from 2:00P-3:30P. If you would like to run for State WCR office, the State WCR Nominating Committee will interview applicants on Monday, March 8, 2010 from 8:00A - 9:30A. Please contact 2009 Past President, Patty Rainey for additional details.

Thank you for the wonderful opportunity you have given me to serve you. I look forward to 2010 and to working with each of you. As leaders of your Chapters, in your boards and as WCR members in the ethical pursuit of your careers, you represent the best our industry has to offer.

Kindest personal regards,
Linda H Vaughn
